The EGO®Our annual international festival and summer school of concerts and conviviality returns with a new Musical Director, Iwan Teifion Davies, with Catrin Finch taking on an advisory role, and an outstanding programme. The festival will have a fresh look focusing on the ways in which we are all connected by music. It is a festival which supports excellence in both teaching and performance and offers a unique opportunity to engage with new works and the established repertoire. Our audience and students return year after year to enjoy word class music making. The concert programme is based on our ethos of Y BydOne World and includes artists and music from a wide range of cultures. To get the week off to an amazing start, we have the Syrian pianist Riyad Nicholas, performing haunting Syrian and European music, preceded by an optional Syrian meal.The Welsh National Opera orchestra visit us on the Sunday performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto; one of his greatest works.Catrin Finch and Aoife NI Brian perform their astounding music on Monday, in a performance not to be missed.There is a joint performance by Aberystwyth Philomusica and Sinfonia Cymru highlighting new music by Welsh composers in the wonderful setting of the Engine Shed at the vale of Rheidol Railway.Other highlights include Braimah Kanneh- Mason and Junyan Chen, returning after their hugely successful winter concert. The Welsh folk group Pedair, a wonderful concert of Brahms and Grieg by our Musicfest tutors and the wonderful Sinfonia Cymru presenting a work -Regenerate- base of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
